Origin of the university goes back to the year 1834 that makes it oldest in Arkansas and one of the oldest on the western side of the River Mississippi. Founded by Cumberland Presbyterians as Cane Hill College in Washington County of Arkansas, it was succeeded by the Arkansas Cumberland College , Clarksville in 1891. Name of the college was changed to the College of the Ozarks in 1920 and it migrated to the status of university in the year 1987.



Campus Features

With tree-shaded campus spread over 30 acres of land atop the College Hill at a distance of two blocks to the north of downtown Clarksville the university has a panoramic environment.

Accreditation

University of Ozarks has been accredited by the North Central Association.

Admission

Preparatory high school curriculum with grade point averaging 3.2 in academic courses and ACT composite score of about 22 is necessary... Transfer students will not required submitting ACT or SAT if they have completed 30 hours. One can apply free online. Printed application can be submitted with application fee of $30. Full term application should be submitted by March 1 for priority consideration and for spring and summer courses they should be submitted at least a month before the course begins.

Programs Offered

Following a small classroom pattern where faculties give attention to individual students, the university offers over 34 majors and 30 minor disciplines for students. In addition the university also offers pre-engineering, pre-medicine, and pre-pharmacist programs as part of the pre-professional courses offered. Scholarships are awarded basing on the merit and eligibility of the students. State scholarships, University of Ozarks scholarships and other scholarships are the three types available. Free application for Federal student aid or FAFSA can be filed for grant of Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Ozarks Grants, Sibling Grants, and Alumni Family Grants. Besides these Federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans, Federal Plus loans, Federal Perkins loans, and Ozarks loans are also available for students.
